This year is the 20th year of the Sunderland Airshow and its the biggest free airshow in Europe. I been going every year since the start and its always a good couple of days out so this year I'm arranging a Meet-up for anyone who is interested in aeroplanes or just having a different day out.
The flightlist is available on this website - http://www.sunderland-airshow.com/ and hopefully more details on whats going to be on the ground will follow soon.
Usually there is alot of stalls, displays, funfairs and random little odds and ends going on even while the flyings happening and its all open late on so theres plenty to do. You can wander around checking out the millitary guys or tanks or crafts fair, you can relax on the beach if its a nice day or you can just watch the planes. The beach is pretty big when the tide is out and is a nice beach too -
This is a Google map showing you where it is and you cna use it to find a way there. Closer to the time the Airshows website will have details of parking, buses and trains that go there. On the day theres usually special buses that go from places like Sunderland, sometimes Newcastle and Heworth that take you direct. The Metro goes to Seaburn and so does the train. If you are coming by car, there is cheap park and ride away from the main place or you can park close all day for usually £5.
Me (Lou) and Stu will be there very early, probably about 9am on both the Saturday and the Sunday because we like to have a good look around at whats on the ground before we settle into a good spot for the airshow itself. A good place to meet anyone will be at this lighthouse -
When you get to the main road on the seafront you can see this lighthouse from miles away, this is why we've always used it as a place to meet friends at the airshow. We'll be around this area by 11am at the latest. If you don't see us at the lihthouns look for some stairs nearby that will lead you down to the railing you can see on the photo, go to the left and we'll be along that path right at the rails. We are usually right near the lighthous because thats used as the centre of the flight display so its good for photos there. We are not hard to miss, we'll have chairs and a cooler with us and I'll be messing with my camera most likely so if you want to join us, feel free. Look out for me wearing this shirt-

I lovw that camera lol and that shirt, its full of bagdes and patches that I've collected at airshows. You don't have to hang around us if you don't want too, theres planty of things to go off and see and do and theres pubs too. When it comes to places to say if you want to make a weekend of it, its probably best to look away from Seaburn and make your way there for the airshow itself because everywhere there will be booked solid.
Right let me know if you are interested, give me a message on Myspace (myspace.com/venvierra) and I'll add ya to a list.
